The emergence of IoT creates several opportunities—such as data acquisition from devices, edge computing, complex event processing, and cloud analytics—for developers at different levels. The session includes Overview of IoT PaaS, Predix - GE’s IoT Cloud, and how it is applied to monitoring Big Machines using various analytics . Best Practices of developing a Predix IoT Cloud application, and finally close off with an overview on how we can use a general purpose analytics such as anomaly detection on IoT cloud and scale it up for multiple industrial assets to provide insightts about the machines.

BoF: Message Based Applications as First-Class Citizens in Cloud Foundry - Geoffrey M. Arnold, Sensity Systems

There is increasing interest in the use of so-called “reactive microservice” application patterns to build scalable, low-latency applications with minimal developer friction. The best known of these systems is AWS Lambda. Although it is possible to build such applications in Cloud Foundry, using pub-sub messaging for communications, it requires developers to forgo much of the orchestration and automation provided by Cloud Foundry for deployment and scaling. In this session, we’ll discuss how message-based applications can become first-class citizens in Cloud Foundry by extending service configuration and automation to include message broker binding and configuration.
